The name basil comes from the Greek "Basilicon", meaning royal and aristocratic. In fact, ancient Greek physicians used basil to produce medicines for their kings.
Tropical basil essential oil, derived from basil, is known for its many medicinal properties. The adjective "tropical" is there to remind us of its origins, for in fact, tropical basil is native to the Indian subcontinent.
