Juniper is a small tree that botanically belongs to the cypress family (Cupressaceae).
A wild bush that grows throughout the Mediterranean basin, it has been known for centuries for its purifying action. During epidemics, whole mountains were burned, and it was used as a fumigant to chase away evil spirits.
Juniper essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the berries. It's a virtually colorless liquid with a fresh, balsamic, woody and spicy aroma. Its fragrance is comforting, restorative and calming.
