This herbaceous plant from tropical regions, with an aromatic stem, resembles the common herbs we grow in our fields. However, it can easily reach two meters in height.

There are several dozen species, the best known of which are Ceylon citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), Indian citronella (or verbena) (Cymbopogon citratus) and Java citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus).
